Promises Happen

Promise to most mortal men only what you must
With some consolation in all of us becoming dust
On a day "they" allege is certain; death and taxes
Not Unlike a tribe waiting in ambush; machetes and axes.

Drawn out lines on faces and crimsoned ground(s)
Leaving no one escape, excepting Karma on her round(s)
Inhumanely Immortal are words; clause backed and binding
Against an onslaught, ambush, ..... clamour; perfected timing

Karma-the General, Time her steed, Humanity-the Army; advances
DeadMan's stare, up to a thousand yards; alone he stances.
Against a backdrop of historic embers; homes and bridges
Burned Bright. Encased in self created night, lonely and frigid.

Promises made are never a light burden; dispensed or received
They grow to a significance beyond what neither perceived.
A Prominence raised on a pedestal propped up by logical disparity
With the percussion of repercussion on stretched bits of sentimentality.

Words uttered come with prominence to tease the human soul
They are; unlike souls-humanly visible and strong within their hold
A lingering essence long after ear drums gyrate; and minds resonate
Product of semantics, will power, linguistics and creative fate.

Pacts dissipated erect around the images of our being a prison
Incarcerates the navigator of our action. Defracts like a prism
The frame our neatly referenced life, reduces every available instant
To Futility all Instants not used for pact fulfilling or (in?) expectant.

Words strung together transcend the trivial and self obsessed
Make such parceled words only where completion is intended.
And in asking, "if i leave here tomorrow, would you still remember me?"
Knowing, I will remember, miss, treasure and continue to need a "We".

----------------------------------------------------

-To everyone that made this last year of college more than bearable. To everyone that has a "We" with me, thanks. And especially to every individual that's going to make leaving in a month, far harder than expected. I wouldn't take a millisecond from that "We" back.
